Yes Kween

Happiness is the goal

Uh-oh ☀

I started this year with the best skin of my adulthood. I had gone through 6 sessions of microneedling to address my melasma that had gotten out of control. I’ve had acne since I was 11, and had some heavier acne scars throughout but noticeably on my upper cheekbone. The microneedling really helped with cellular repair, and adding hydroquinone & retinol helped my skin look more even than I can recall. I finally started having women ask me things like what moisturizer I use, cause my skin was glowing.

My skin appointments were what I had to look forward to monthly, with the first 6 months of last year being some of the most intense confusing times & I experienced a few major friendship losses while spiraling into a depression that I self medicated. My husband and I were working harder with our business & my real estate career than we ever had before. We have been chasing that level of busy for a long time so we just grinded and were thankful for every referral. But that intense yearhad us burnt out in December. We needed a holiday. But travel was still frowned on, so we started planning for where to go when it was ok to get away. We started seeing people traveling to Florida & were ready to make our plans, when I saw someone in Mexico. I reached out to ask what they had to do to go, which was nothing. Turns out you need a negative covivid test to return to the US, that’s it.

5 days into being in Mexico, I could some areas had discoloration. I knew the drill. I wore physical sunscreen everyday and a hat when I could but the whale watching tour I didn’t cause it wouldn’t have stayed on *note to self, bring a ballcap every future holiday. I luckily have my ZIIP beauty device to help – it has 9 different treatment settings including pigmentation, although neither the acne treatment nor the pigmentation treatment should be done more than every other day.

This will allow me to show how effective the ZIIP is at treating pigmentation and serves me a huge lesson about reapplication of sunscreen and how vital it is to always wear a hat now.

Welcome to the Kweendom

I’m so excited to be starting this journey with you!  I wanted to post a quick note to thank you for coming by and welcome all.  While I’m still finishing up the behind the curtains I wanted to at least write a few words.  Yes Kween is my happy place for writing about all the things I love – YAS – to all the things I hate – girl bye – primarily be for product reviews, with some tea and shade wherever it’s needed.  I’ve found more confidence with age and I hope I can help empower others to embrace their beauty.  I hope you’ll become a part of the fun and comment or ask questions and leave your own recommendations.  Here’s to having fun with beauty, because we all are on the journey to beautiful, just in different places on the map.  Cheers!  xoxo MichellePlaceholder Image

Adventures in Beauty

Nordstrom is probably my favorite store to shop for beauty products now.   I just love that they have so many brands I love, and outside of the brand counters they have displays with brushes from Sigma and Julep goodies and mini palettes.  I need to give myself more time to shop next time but this time was more of a get-in-get-out mission.

I did meet a lovely woman named Jennifer who helped me at the Chanel counter.  I was picking up my new Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eye shadow that I’m already obsessed with, and Jennifer was nice enough to come from behind her counter and help a kween out.

Jennifer works for Sisley-Paris which is a luxury brand that specializes in skincare much like La Mer but Sisley-Paris is more plant based.  Phytocosmetology if you will.  Jennifer gave me a quick run down on the company and some of their signature products – which includes a $525 cream.  She showed me their new fragrance Izia which I found to be one of the most intoxicating scents I’ve ever come across.  It is floral but has some musk and amber so the end is different than the beginning but feminine the whole time.  I left with a goody bag of products from their skin care line, as well as a generous sample of their concealer.

I can’t wait to share more about the line and start posting regularly which should be shortly as I’m almost ready for my Real Estate Licensing test.  Wish me luck!

xoxo
